Using Keyword research to sort out your Browsers from your shoppers and buyers

Keyword research is needed to sort out buyers from browsers

Business owners who are active online using their marketing skills to drive visitors and therefore business to their websites need to do careful research.

It does not matter which method you use to drive traffic to your website – be it paying for advertised traffic, doing constant article writing or simply adding relevant posts to your website daily, all need good keyword research.

Everything hinges upon that initial keyword research, as once you have written an article and set it onto its feet online that is how it will stay for all eternity.

If you choose to simply write articles and put them onto the article directories to gain valuable Back-links to your website then that is your prerogative, but if you have gone to the effort of planning and writing an article why not do it properly.

Here are a few tips that will help you do the keyword research correctly for all your articles.

Get the basics right

I am not going to dwell on the fact that a good article needs to be original have a good subject to write about and needs all the correct basics like grammar and spelling. Whilst at the same time you need to have chosen your niche with care in regard to the profitability and competitiveness of that specific market.

Keyword tools

Here I am presuming that you are aware of the free and paid tools available for your use in keyword research.

Google’s keyword tool is very often enough for me to get most of the work done, but there are very many brilliant tools online that you could use if you need to do more detailed keyword planning.

Browsers

Now a browser is the most common sort of person online at any given time, as this has become a very accepted form of entertainment medium as an alternative to TV or books these days.

What these browsers are doing is to simple look for subjects that have an interest to them and enjoy their online time.

Now do not get me wrong here – I am not writing off these browsers as a waste of our marketing time, all I am saying is that their buying urge is not switched on at that given time.

These browsers do in fact end up at places where goods are for sale and sometimes do actually buy, but generally bookmark those sorts of sites for future reference.

A browser will also use only one or two keywords in the search box when surfing the internet. They are not looking for exact or specific terms.

Shoppers

Now a shopper that is online will use more exact keywords like “compare brand-name camera features” and this will be because they have a product or item that they are interested in buying and are now doing more detailed research.

So what I suggest you do is when researching your keywords that you look for those shopping keywords and perhaps write your report or article on that exact keyword term.

Some keywords that I could suggest here are find – best – cheapest but generally they are built into a longer keyword sentence.

Buyers

Now buyers are very determined people; they would already have made up their minds that they are going to buy a product and are really just looking for the best deal.

Keywords that buyers look for are ones like bonus or best prices and terms along those lines.

When you are doing research for those terms please remember that you also need to phrase you article or post in such a way as to immediately get to the point on what you are offering. This article for example is more informative and has not needed to use hard hitting bullet points to get a buyers attention, but if you are targeting a buyer make sure you do not lose him quickly.

A buyer that is hunting for a fast answer to his search will scan the bullet points quickly and move on if they feel that you are not hitting the exact spot that they are after, and seek that result elsewhere. Now if your keyword choice is done correctly and you page or post that they arrive at works – you will have a sale.
